Grit vs Resilience β What's the Difference?
Grit, described by Angela Duckworth, is a combination of passion and perseverance for long-term goals. A person with high grit continues working toward a goal even when progress is slow. Grit is about proactive effort and consistency.
Resilience is the ability to adapt and bounce back from difficult experiences, stress, or failure. It is more reactive β it concerns how we cope with adversity when it arises.
Both constructs are related but distinct. You can have high grit (persistently pursuing goals) but low resilience (struggling to recover from failure). And vice versa β you might bounce back quickly from stress but lack long-term perseverance.
