Job satisfaction vs burnout — dissatisfaction or exhaustion?
Low satisfaction is an evaluation: the job does not meet your expectations in areas like the work itself, growth, recognition or pay. You can be dissatisfied and still have energy — then the solution is often a role change, negotiation or a new employer.
Burnout (MBI) is a state: emotional exhaustion, cynicism and reduced sense of accomplishment building up over months. You can even like your job and still burn out — through overload, lack of control or value conflict. Burnout requires recovery and workload changes, not just a new desk.
A tip: low satisfaction + high energy → the question is "is this the right place for me?". Exhaustion regardless of satisfaction → first recover your strength; make strategic decisions later.
