What is conscientiousness?

Conscientiousness is the Big Five dimension describing the tendency to be organized, responsible, self-disciplined, and achievement-striving. High conscientiousness = planning, completing, delaying gratification.

Why does it matter?

Conscientiousness is the strongest Big Five predictor of work success, health quality (yes, longer life!), and relationship quality. Stronger than intelligence in many domains.

How is it measured?

NEO-PI-R, BFI, TIPI. Related constructs: Grit, and its opposite: procrastination.
