What is FOMO?

FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) is the anxiety from believing others are having a better experience than you. Popularized in the social media era β€” Instagram and TikTok provide endless evidence that "something cooler is happening somewhere else."

Why does it matter?

FOMO correlates with lower well-being, worse sleep quality, higher anxiety, and compulsive scrolling. It often pushes people to accept invitations against their own needs ("what if I miss something?").
