Curiosity is the motivation to seek new information and experiences. Kashdan distinguished 5 types: joyous exploration, deprivation sensitivity, stress tolerance, social curiosity, thrill-seeking.
Why does it matter?
Curiosity predicts academic success, creativity, and innovation. Curious employees more often propose new solutions.
How is it measured?
Five-Dimensional Curiosity Scale (Kashdan, 2018), connected to Openness in the Big Five.
