Creativity

What is creativity?

Creativity is the ability to produce something novel and useful. Classic definition by Stein (1953). Guilford (1950) distinguished convergent thinking (one good solution) from divergent (many different solutions).

Why does it matter?

Creativity predicts success in innovation-heavy work, life satisfaction, and resilience to change. It can be trained — it's not just "talent".

How is it measured?

Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking (TTCT), Alternative Uses Test (Guilford), correlates: Openness in the Big Five.
