What is extraversion?

Extraversion is a Big Five dimension describing the level of energy drawn from social interactions. Extraverts are sociable, talkative and sensation-seeking. Introverts prefer quieter settings.

Why does it matter?

Extraversion correlates with positive emotions and life satisfaction. It is relevant in career contexts — DISC and MBTI partly build on this dimension.

How is it measured?

Big Five Inventory (BFI), NEO-PI-R and TIPI-10.
