Burnout

What is burnout?

Burnout is a syndrome from chronic workplace stress. Maslach defined three dimensions: emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and reduced accomplishment. WHO recognized it in ICD-11.

Risk factors

Excessive workload, lack of autonomy, unfairness, lack of support and value conflict.

How is it measured?

Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) — the gold standard.
