What is stress?

Stress is the physiological and psychological response to challenges (stressors). Hans Selye identified 3 phases: alarm, resistance, exhaustion. Eustress (short-term) mobilizes. Distress (chronic) damages.

Why does it matter?

Chronic stress is a risk factor for heart disease, diabetes, depression, anxiety, and burnout. It's the great "hidden" killer of the 21st century.

How is it measured?

PSS-10 (Perceived Stress Scale, Cohen 1983), indirectly via GAD-7 (anxiety), MBI (burnout), and Resilience Scale.
